SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. — Gabby Petito’s family attorney said Brian Laundrie’s parents admitted to knowing more than previously made public.
According to an amended complaint, the attorney for Petito’s family, Pat Reilly, said Brian told his parents during a phone call that Gabby was “gone” and he needed a lawyer on Aug. 29, 2021, two days after it’s believed Gabby was murdered.

In between those two days, Reilly claims Brian sent a series of text messages between his and Gabby’s phones to cover up that she was dead.
Reilly said Christopher and Roberta Laundrie talked to their lawyer Steve Bertolino that same day and told him Petito was “gone” and Brian needed a lawyer.
Gabby Petito’s remains were later discovered near Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park on Sept. 19, 2021.
Brian’s remains were discovered approximately a month later. Autopsy reports confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and investigators released his diary, where he seemingly confessed to murdering Gabby Petito.
The trial is scheduled to take place in May 2024.
