After Broadneck finished last year in a three-way tie for the Maryland Class 4A tennis title, the Bruins went into Saturday’s championships at Columbia’s Wilde Lake Tennis Center knowing they would have to fend off Churchill if they wanted the trophy to themselves. But when both teams finished with 17 points, new tiebreaking rules took effect. Broadneck ended up earning its second consecutive title thanks to two extra games won by mixed doubles team Charlie Ernst and Anissa Jean-Claude.
