Bruce Springsteen and his E Street band won’t be playing down San Diego way as planned, at least not this year.
On Wednesday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer announced that he and his group are postponing all of their remaining 2023 tour dates — including a sold-out Dec. 2 gig at Pechanga Arena that would have been their first San Diego concert together since 1981. He attributed the decision to his need to receive medical treatment for the peptic ulcer disease, which earlier this month prompted him to push back his remaining September tour dates with his E Street Band.
Springsteen, 74, announced his decision on social media Wednesday morning, writing: “Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement and support. I’m on the mend and can’t wait to see you all next year.”
He also cited “an abundance of caution” and indicated that, on doctor’s advice, he will continue treatment for the rest of the year.
It is not yet known exactly when in 2024 he and his band will perform their postponed 2023 concerts. However, rescheduled dates for all of the shows are expected to be announced next week and plans call for all of them to be held at their originally scheduled venues.
Tickets for the postponed shows will be valid at the new ones net year. Ticket-holders who are unable to attend the new dates will have 30 days to request a refund if they made their purchases through official ticketing companies.
