Brush fire erupts in southeast Lee County

LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A brush fire approximately 200 acres in size sparked in southeast Lee County on Wednesday afternoon.

According to Florida Forest Service (FFS), seven crews are at the scene near Corkscrew Regional Mitigation Bank, working to open up the area while battling the fire.

Only one large fire has been reported at this time but wind could potentially spread the flames. The fire is not near any homes and no structures have been threatened.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
