CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The Cape Coral Police Department is trying to figure out who stabbed a man who was at the El Tropical restaurant off Hancock Bridge Parkway West this weekend.
At 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, police responded to a stabbing.
When they arrived they found a bleeding man with two stab wounds that were one inch long, one on his back shoulder and the other on his ribs underneath his armpit.
The victim’s friends told police they were at the El Tropical restaurant when two people started fighting.
They decided to leave, but the victim remained at the restaurant until he and another person were escorted out by the owner.
The victim’s friends told police their friend got in their car and left with them, appearing fine.
They said they didn’t see the stabbing or even know their friend got stabbed until they arrived at their next location.
The owner of the restaurant also told deputies he didn’t see the stabbing happen but did have to escort two men out of his restaurant. A knife was located inside but it had no blood on it.
The man lost consciousness and was quickly transported to the hospital. His friends said he had surgery and almost lost his life. On Monday evening they returned to the plaza to search for security camera footage at nearby businesses. They said they don’t know who stabbed their friend and that El Tropical doesn’t have working security cameras.
