CAPE CORAL, Fla. — A Cape Coral teenager and exterminator helped police catch a home invasion suspect.
What would you do if you came home to strangers in your house? For 17-year-old Hunter Green, there was no question.
“I didn’t feel anything. I was just ready to react.” Hunter described the moment he found two masked men in his father’s bedroom on Southwest 24th Avenue Friday morning.
“I froze. They froze. Then one of the guys said, ‘What should we do now?’ The other guy replied in Spanish. Then they took off and I took off with them,” Green said.
Hunter said one of the men jumped into a white truck parked in front of the construction site next door and got away. He chased the other man to Southwest 29th Terrace. That’s when he ran into an unlikely good Samaritan, an exterminator from Tony’s Pest Control.
The good Samaritan followed the suspect with his car for another mile. Then, officers caught up and arrested him.
Hunter said he only felt comfortable going after the men because he has a background in martial arts. He also got the feeling these criminals were a little inexperienced.
“The main reason I froze was because the guy actually had a mask on from a famous video game and I was like… you know if you’re going to rob a house, I think you shouldn’t wear something that identifiable.”
Hunter said the mask was themed from the video game “Call of Duty.”
The invaders did not end up stealing anything. ABC7 has reached out to the Cape Coral Police Department to find out who these suspects are.
