Authorities have identified a 23-year-old woman who was struck by a car in a suspected DUI crash in Carlsbad Tuesday.

Karla Leyva of Carlsbad had just parked her car on Las Palmas Drive near Camino Vida Roble and was standing next to it when an oncoming vehicle hit her about 12:35 a.m., according to the Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Volkswagen Jetta also struck three other vehicles, Carlsbad police said.

The Jetta’s alleged driver — Jose Manuel Zambrano Cruz, 26, of Carlsbad — fled after the crash but was arrested a short time later on several charges, including DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter.
