CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — A phone call scam has been running rampant across Charlotte County, causing the sheriff’s office to send a warning to citizens about it.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), people have reported receiving calls from a “Lt. Perry” from CCSO’s “Civil Services Division” to talk about “an important matter”.

However, CCSO confirmed it does not have a Lt. Perry and that they do not call people to threaten them with jail time for missing jury duty. CCSO also said they will not call to demand payments over the phone for any situation.
