A Chicago man is charged with robbery after authorities say he was one of at least two suspects who followed a Wheeling woman home from an area bank, accosted her in a parking garage and stole her money and other property, according to a news release from the Wheeling Police Department.

Wayne Frazier, 26, of the 2600 block of West Gladys Street, in Chicago, is charged with robbery after he was arrested Sunday on an outstanding warrant that had been issued following a Feb. 14 incident, authorities stated in the release. Frazier was pulled over Sunday in Riverwoods for an unrelated traffic stop.

A Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesperson told Pioneer Press that Frazier appeared in court Monday in Rolling Meadows where he was ordered detained until his next court date, due to a warrant from another pending case.

According to the police department release, a Wheeling woman had visited a bank in Buffalo Grove on Valentine’s Day. Frazier and at least one other person followed her home from the bank and confronted her in the parking garage of her apartment building, in the 500 block of West Dundee Road.

“During the robbery the victim was thrown to the ground, while cash and other items were taken, leaving the victim with minor injuries,” the release states. “After video evidence was recovered and coordination with other departments led to Mr. Frazier, Wheeling investigators were able to positively identify Mr. Frazier as one of the assailants.”

Local authorities secured an arrest warrant for Frazier following the alleged robbery in the parking garage. He was pulled over for a traffic stop in Riverwoods, authorities became aware of the outstanding warrant and Franzier was arrested and turned over to Wheeling police, the release states.

Additional charges are also pending against Frazier from the Arlington Heights, Summit and Berwyn police departments “for similar offenses,” according to the release.
