NAPLES, Fla. — Naples has a new chief in town. Ciro Dominguez was appointed to be the new police chief for the City of Naples Police Department.
The decision comes after a four-month search that included 175 candidates.
Dominguez has a lengthy 38-year career in law enforcement. According to a City of Naples news release, he began his career at the Naples Police Department in 1982.
He worked his way up the ladder from police officer to sergeant prior to leaving the department in 1992. He went on to take a leadership role with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), where he worked for 11 years.
Dominguez then worked as a deputy chief of police for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. He retired with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office as a colonel.
Now, with his new role, Dominguez will also serve as a member of Naples’ senior management team.
Dominguez will take over the position on Oct. 16.
