COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — Dozens of kids got to shop with Collier County deputies to make sure they have gifts to give and enjoy this holiday season.
Thanks to donors with the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples, 80 kids created their own shopping lists and were allotted $100 to shop for themselves or family members. The event pairs the kids with Collier deputies who work as youth resource officers in local schools.
“The annual shopping excursions, which began in 2015, allow school-assigned deputies to build a rapport with students that extends beyond discipline and patrolling the halls, said Jeffrey Feld, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Jewish Federation of Greater Naples.
Feld said seeing smiles on the faces of all the kids is always heartwarming.
