LEE COUNTY, Fla. — A 2016 Corvette and a Chevy Camaro were both broken into, hotwired, and stolen from the Murano Apartment Complex off of Three Oaks Parkway Wednesday evening, according to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO).

“I was freaking out, driving all over San Carlos Park thinking it’s over there. No luck,” Thomas Borduas, the owner of the Corvette, said. 

Borduas said that he parked the car inside his gated community around 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, only to return the next day to an empty parking space.

He believes a lack of strong security at the Murano complex led to the thefts. 

“Anyone can walk in. There’s basically no gate, just two plastic arm bars that go up. Every other place I’ve lived there’s large metal gates that fold up, a code, etc. Here there’s nothing,” Borduas added.  

Inside the Corvette were Borduas’ documentation, valuables, and a firearm. 

LCSO official incident reports show that both the Corvette and Camaro were spotted via license plate readers in Southern Collier County, possibly heading toward Miami. 

The vehicles have not been recovered, and no arrests have been made.
