Crews are battling a 200-acre brush fire that ignited Saturday afternoon on Camp Pendleton.
The Roblar Fire began around 2 p.m. in the Zulu Impact Area on base near Case Springs Road, which is five miles from Fallbrook and about 6 1/2 miles from Oceanside.
The fire began began near the middle of Camp Pendleton at a time where the temperature was about 100 degrees. Winds gusting up to 20 mph help spread the blaze, which produced a towering column of smoke drifting to the northeast.
Around 3:45 p.m. Camp Pendleton officials issued a smoke advisory via X, formerly known as Twitter, saying “Smoke may be visible, but there is currently no threat to personnel or structures.”
The North County Fire Protection District, which serves the communities of Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow, also said there is currently no threat to its district.
The blaze was zero percent contained as of about 4:45 p.m. Saturday, according to Cal Fire.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
