A 70-year-old man riding his bike in the Point Loma area was killed Saturday afternoon when a car struck him, the San Diego Police Department said.

The fatal collision occurred at 2:48 p.m. when a 92-year-old woman driving a 2018 Chevy Volt westbound on Canon Street in the Roseville-Fleet Ridge neighborhood turned left on Evergreen Street, and her car headed into the path of the cyclist who was riding his bike eastbound on Canon, Sgt. Clinton Leisz said.

The man was transported to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The female driver was not injured, Leisz said.

The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is overseeing the collision investigation. Anyone with information related to the collision is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
