Daniel Radcliffe and his girlfriend Erin Darke brought their newborn baby along to the SAG-AFTRA picket line in New York City Friday to show their support.
The “Harry Potter” actor, 33, was seen cradling his 4-month-old son as Darke, 38, held a “SAG-AFTRA on Strike” sign on the picket line.
The pair joined thousands of actors and entertainers striking in Hollywood and around the country with the Writers Guild of America (WGA) for the first time in over six decades.
Ahead of the strike, Radcliffe opened up about his newfound journey into fatherhood.
“He’s very cute,” he told Extra of his son “We’ve moved into a less screaming phase and he’s now giving us little smiles and giggling.”
“It’s been a crazy few months, as anyone who’s been through parenthood would attest. But it’s also the literal best thing that’s ever happened, so it’s great. I feel very lucky to be able to have this time with him. It’s awesome.”
Radcliffe and Darke welcomed their first baby together in April, just one month after news broke that the “Miracle Workers” co-stars were starting a family.
The couple, who are notoriously private and rarely make red carpet appearances, have been together since meeting on the “Kill Your Darlings” set in 2012.
Speaking to People about their relationship in March 2022, Radcliffe couldn’t help but gush about how “happy” he is with the actress.
“I’ve got a really nice life,” he told the outlet. “I’ve been with my girlfriend for a decade pretty much.”
Radcliffe isn’t the only famous face joining the SAG picket line, as several famous faces have thrown their support for the strike in recent days — including Susan Sarandon, Brian Cox, and Jason Sudeikis.
The SAG-AFTRA unanimously voted to stop working after their contract expired and talks broke off with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which represents streamers Disney, Netflix, Amazon and others.
The strike marks the first time the 160,000-member-strong SAG-AFTRA has walked out from film and television since 1980.
The actor-screenwriter strike is the first joint walkout in more than six decades — and has the potential to block dozens of upcoming projects — such as the “Avatar” and “Gladiator” sequels — until a new contract with studios and streaming services is reached.
Both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA are demanding a rise in pay and residuals in the streaming era.
They are also seeking assurances that their work will not be replaced by artificial intelligence in the near future.
