Detroit Is Paying Up to End the UAW Strike. Now Carmakers Will Live With the Costs.

The end of the United Auto Workers strikes against Detroit’s three automakers offered the car companies some relief after a bruising six-week labor showdown, but they remain in a gloomy mood.

General Motors on Monday became the last of the Detroit automakers to reach a tentative labor deal with the UAW, according to people familiar with the talks.
