Disney fans rejoice: The Disney Treasure, Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship, will set sail on its maiden voyage on Dec. 21, followed by an inaugural season of seven-night itineraries to the Caribbean departing from Port Canaveral.
Previously announced venues onboard Disney’s sixth cruise ship include fan-favorites from other vessels in the fleet — including adult-dining destinations Palo Steakhouse and Enchanté by Chef Arnaud Lallement. “Our newest ship will immerse guests in brand new experiences that are inspired by beloved Disney theme parks and attractions,” says Sharon Siskie, senior vice president and general manager of Disney Cruise Line.
The Disney Treasure, which features 1,256 staterooms, including a first-of-its-kind suite themed around EPCOT, will also feature entertainment you won’t find anywhere else — like the Broadway-style musical Disney The Tale of Moana and Sarabi, a lounge inspired by The Lion King. Beyond that, Disney parks fans have plenty to be happy about: The ship is introducing several highly-anticipated lounges themed around classic Disney attractions, like The Haunted Mansion Parlor, The Skipper Society, and The Periscope Pub.
Today, we’re learning even more about what you’ll be able to find aboard when The Treasure takes to the seas in December. Below are a few of the ship’s highlights:
The Scat Cat Lounge
The Scat Cat Lounge is inspired by the penthouse performance of “Everybody Wants to be a Cat” from the classic film Aristocats. The space will be decorated with hanging lanterns, and a paw print-adorned baby grand piano in honor of the film’s fantastic feline, Scat Cat. Guests can enjoy live music as they sip original creations like the Créme de la Créme Martini, a creamy dessert cocktail crafted with Cognac and chocolate, served in a French-style ceramic bowl as a nod to Marie, Toulouse, and Berlioz’s favorite treat. Guests can also order The Cat Drink, made with clarified bourbon, amaro, Aperol, and fresh lemon — served in hand-crafted drinkware that will be embossed with, you guessed it, the image of a cat. The menu will also feature the Turkish Tea Experience, a tea-based cocktail served in a bejeweled teapot — an homage to the Agrabah-inspired architecture of the Grand Hall adjacent to the lounge. “For Scat Cat lounge, we were inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios Films, The Aristocats and Aladdin to develop an unparalleled drink menu that we know our guests will love,” says Salah Chetbi, Disney Cruise Line’s beverage director.
Plaza de Coco
Plaza de Coco will transport guests to Santa Cecilia from the film Coco. The theatrical dining experience will feature Mexican flavors and dishes inspired by the traditional recipes that you would find in Miguel Rivera’s family kitchen. “It was important for us to marry what we put on the plate with the restaurant’s story,” said Stephen Walker, Disney Cruise Line culinary director. “Plaza de Coco is a celebration of family and the food is inspired by what Miguel and his own family might eat in the Disney-Pixar film, Coco. The menu is a modern take on traditional Mexican dishes with something for everyone.”
The musical meal will begin with appetizer options such as Abuelita Elena Shrimp Diablo with chili-chipotle sauce and Chorizo Street Croquettes. Entrées include Luisa’s Pollo Asado, featuring Michoacán citrus chicken, Pan-Seared Adobo Spiced Sea Bass with seared scallops, and a Blistered Poblano Pepper stuffed with Oaxaca cheese and green rice. To end the meal on a sweet note, expect treats like Margarita Lime Cheesecake served with raspberry-agave coulis, Coconut Tres Leches, and a Mexican Chocolate Tart.
Jumbeaux’s Sweets
Jumbeaux’s Sweets is an ice cream parlor inspired by the film Zootopia, serving more than 35 flavors of handcrafted frozen treats including ice cream, sorbets, plant-based frozen desserts, and pastries. The treats will include Zootopia Chocolate Bark Post Cards, representing favorite characters from Disney’s Zootopia and carrying its distinct flavor variation, combining an assortment of dry fruits, nuts, and sprinkles in various chocolates. The Paw Shortbread Sandwich is a spin on Nick Wilde’s “pawpcicle” with two filled paw-shaped red velvet shortbread cookies, and cupcakes in honor of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde. The Mango Leopard Cakesicle, in honor of the striped residents of Zootopia, has a lemon fudge cake pop drizzled with mango chocolate glaze. For an easily shareable treat, three Carrot Chocolate Covered Strawberries will be served over a cookie crumble soil.
Worlds of Marvel
Avengers fans, assemble: a new interactive show is coming to the onboard the Treasure. “Marvel Celebration of Heroes: Groot Remix” will feature everyone’s favorite members of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Rocket and Groot. Our heroes will once again save the day as they bring to the table a mix of classic songs and activities that will test the Marvel knowledge of diners of all ages. Even if you don’t have room for dessert, stick around until the end. “To bring Rocket and Baby Groot to life, we collaborated with Marvel Studios and the incredible visual effects team that animated the I Am Groot shorts,” said Danny Handke, senior creative director of Walt Disney Imagineering. “This Marvel experience wouldn’t be complete without Marvel Cinematic Universe cameos and a finale moment.”
