COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. — An East Naples homeowner went out of their way to rescue a baby bird that fell from its nest after Hurricane Idalia.
After the storm blew through, the rescuer brought the bird to the Von Arx Wildlife Hospital.
Staff members determined they needed to create a more secure nest, so they talked the homeowner through the steps to remove the remaining baby from the nest and how to build a new one.
The rescuer was able to do it, and when the fallen baby was cleared by the hospital, it was put back in the nest with its mom and sibling.
They even put a pillow on the ground below the nest in case one of the birds falls again.
The Von Arx Wildlife Hospital rehabs native wildlife year-round, seven days a week.
