Emergency crews are on the scene of a house fire on East 12th Avenue between Prince Albert and St. Catherines Streets Saturday morning.

“It appears that there was fire started in somebody’s basement and extended up into the house,” Vancouver Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Andy Zawada told CityNews.

Zawada says that so far, they have not found anyone in the structure and there has been no damage to neighbouring buildings.

Fire investigators will work to determine the cause of the blaze and determine whether or not it was an abandoned building, he says.

CityNews has reached out to Vancouver Fire for further information.

Drivers in the area are advised to take Broadway or Kingsway as police and fire trucks are blocking East 12th going both eastbound and westbound.

This is a developing story.
