NORTH NAPLES, Fla. — For week six, the ABC7 Player of the Week award goes to First Baptist Academy quarterback Ethan Crossan. The junior turned on the jets in Friday night’s heavyweight battle against Golden Gate.
“I appreciate it,” said Crossan. “And overall I had receivers that made great plays, the O-line did amazing against a big D-line that they had. And it was a great, it was a great day for our offense.”
“His maturity, his confidence and his leadership abilities just been priceless,” said head coach Billy Sparacio. “He’s done a great job.”
Crossan passed for 324 yards and three touchdowns while adding 57 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown.
“I just think [he’s] extending plays, doing those things that you see on Saturdays and Sundays, he’s doing a really good job of that, guys get open and he makes a play,” added Sparacio.
The reigning state champions dropped two games in a row, so a week six victory was crucial. The Lions’ road game at Golden Gate was very back and forth, a nail-biter that went down to the wire, with FBA sliding by with the 48-46 victory.
“Both teams really came back, fought hard,” said Sparacio. “I just felt like you know, we were fortunate enough to come out on top.”
“It was a boost in our confidence for sure,” said Crossan. “We gotta flush last week and focus on this week now and we got to come ready to work at practice because it’s a very good opponent.”
FBA continues its streak of away games this Friday, October 6 at Wekiva in Apopka.
