Domaine Curry, the wine brand co-founded by Ayesha Curry and Sydel Curry-Lee — wife and sister, respectively, of Warriors player Steph Curry — has a new owner. On Friday, prominent beverage company Constellation Brands announced it had acquired the celebrity brand from previous owner Coup de Foudre in Napa Valley.

TV show personality, restaurateur and cookbook author Ayesha Curry first launched the wine brand with her sister-in-law in 2018. At the time, she shared the news on Instagram, writing, “Couldn’t think of a better person to partner with on this project than [Sydel Curry-Lee]. She appreciates a big bold Cabernet just as much as I.”

Domaine Curry will now fall under the umbrella of Constellation’s St. Helena-based Prisoner Wine Company, alongside other brands Saldo, Blindfold and Unshackled. Prisoner sells some of Napa’s most popular wines but has faced controversy for its glamorization of incarceration. The brand has since responded to criticism by donating some proceeds to an anti-poverty nonprofit, and its parent company, Constellation Brands, has pledged $1 million to the Equal Justice Initiative, which provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted or unfairly sentenced.

Constellation Brands’ acquisition of Domaine Curry is part of its commitment to invest $100 million in Black- and minority-owned businesses by 2030.

Curry and Curry-Lee will still be involved in creative aspects of the wine brand, despite no longer being owners, reported the San Francisco Chronicle (the Chronicle and SFGATE are both owned by Hearst but have separate newsrooms).
