The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning to parents and caregivers due to a voluntary recall of LittleOak infant formulas on Thursday.

Because LittleOak has not submitted the required premarket notification to the FDA, the following products were voluntarily recalled:

• LittleOak Natural Goat Milk Infant Formula
• LittleOak Natural Goat Milk Follow-on Formula

The products were sold in the U.S. illegally through the company’s website.

In the U.S., introducing and selling a new infant formula without submission to the FDA first is prohibited.

Premarket notification for new baby formula serves to demonstrate the safety and nutritional adequacy of the product.

According to the FDA, preparation instructions on the label of the LittleOak baby formula containers also do not align with measurements commonly displayed on infant formula bottles in the U.S.

The FDA advises parents and caregivers not to feed LittleOak Infant Formula to infants under their care.
