Hoop season has begun, and FGCU men’s basketball is about to tip off its 2023-2024 campaign, opening the season at Indiana University on Tuesday.
The Eagles enter this season ranked second in the ASUN Preseason Coaches Poll behind Eastern Kentucky. Last year’s squad finished with a 17-15 record, falling in the first round of the ASUN tournament. This season, the Eagles roster features eleven returners.
“We just have a lot of energy from the top down, from the coaches to the players to the managers,” said FGCU forward Keeshawn Kellman. “I feel like there’s a bunch of people that’s bought in that wants to win.”
“One of the things we learned from last year was we really gotta buy in or commit to the details,” said head coach Pat Chambers. “It’s just offensively, defensively everything’s just so much better for us. So we’ll continue to work on that, it’s still early in the season, but that’s the journey we’re about to go on.”
The Eagles face the Hoosiers on Nov. 7 at 6:30 PM. Their home opener is on Friday, November 10, against Ave Maria.
