Firefighters knock down South Gate strip mall

Los Angeles County firefighters knocked down a massive fire that erupted at a strip mall in South Gate on Friday morning. 

Officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department said the call was reported just before 7 a.m. at the strip mall located at the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue and Firestone Boulevard. Some road closures were temporarily in place during the firefight before reopening. 

Fire authorities said the fire started in a vacant unit before spreading.

LA County firefighters were working to knock down a fire that erupted at a strip mall on Friday, March 1.

No injuries were reported to firefighters or civilians.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
