Forecast: Another scorcher ahead – ABC7 Southwest Florida

It’s going to be another hot and humid day today across SWFL, with little-to-no rainfall out there to help cool things down.

We’re starting our day with well above average temperatures, as high humidity is leaving us with morning lows in the middle and upper 70s. Temperatures will climb into the lower 90s by the afternoon, with ‘feels like’ numbers peaking between 105°-110° in most spots. Rain chances will remain low as well, with only an isolated downpour or two early by the coast this morning and a few storms by Lake Okeechobee during the afternoon and evening.

Friday will bring similar weather– with continued onshore winds bringing isolated morning downpours and pushing that rain to the east coast through the afternoon. Additionally, we’ll be watching storms over northern Florida late in the day that will attempt to dive into our northern counties during the evening hours. Regardless, expect another very hot and humid day with highs in the lower 90s with heat index values over 100°.

By the weekend, broad low pressure setting up over Florida will help to up our rain chances, though the heat and humidity will look to stick around.

Tracking the Tropics:

A disturbance moving off the coast of Africa has a low chance to develop as it drifts westward into next week toward the Caribbean. If it were to take a name, it would be Bret. This appears to be no immediate threat to Florida, but we’ll be tracking it closely, so stick with ABC7 for the latest.
