The much-anticipated cold front is finally here! As it pushes south of Collier County, we are welcoming in drier and cooler air into the region.
Tonight, temperatures are falling into the 70s and by Monday morning, many of us will wake up to the mid-upper 60s. You may want to consider giving the air conditioning a break and cracking the windows open over the next few nights.
There is the chance that the front will try to squeeze out some moisture and allow for patches of drizzle or light showers to develop in our coastal communities during the morning hours. Rain chances are only at 20%. The sky will clear out by the afternoon as dewpoints plummet into the 50s. It will feel comfortable all day long with highs only expected to reach the mid-upper 70s.
We will continue to see even cooler air arrive by Tuesday morning. You’ll want a sweater or jacket ready to go, if you plan on heading out late Monday night or Tuesday morning.
Tracking the tropics
Tropical Depression Sean is finally weakening and is expected to become a remnant low late Sunday or early Monday.
The National Hurricane Center has backed off slightly with the chances for development of a tropical wave near the coast of Africa during the next 48 hours. There still is a high chance for the disturbance to become our next tropical storm later this week. If it does, it would take the name Tammy. While the wave is currently moving west, forecast models call for the disturbance to turn back towards the northeast hundreds of miles from the U.S. east coast.
