Summer-like weather continues today for SWFL, with highs in the 90s and scattered afternoon and evening downpours and storms to track. 

We’ll start the day with an unseasonably warm and muggy morning, as high humidity will keep temperatures in the middle 70s for most. Temperatures will climb into the low 90s by the afternoon, with high humidity pushing heat index values into the middle and upper 90s.

Downpours will begin to bubble up across the area shortly after lunchtime as the sea breeze builds in — going from isolated downpours close to I-75 during the early afternoon to scattered to widespread downpours and storms for deep inland areas thereafter. Areas close to the coast will stay mainly rain-free. While severe storms aren’t expected, a few storms could be strong, especially in Glades and Hendry Counties this evening where storms will pack torrential rain and frequent lightning. 

Expect similar conditions through the weekend with highs in the low 90s and afternoon storms — mainly staying east of I-75 and focused on our deep inland areas in particular.
