A warm front lifted through the area overnight, and tropical humidity has returned to the area in its wake. As such, we’re waking up to a warmer morning, with sunrise temperatures settling into the middle 70s. The front will also help to keep us cloudy through the morning — with a bit more sunshine in our southern areas. Temperatures will climb to highs in the upper 80s and low 90s by the afternoon, with the higher humidity pushing heat index values into the upper 90s. 

After a mainly dry start storms will begin to bubble up around lunchtime, tracking from south to north and mainly focused on areas along and east of I-75 as we head through the afternoon and into the evening. A few storms will be strong, packing torrential rain and gusty winds. 

Another round of storms will look to wash in via the Gulf during the early morning hours Thursday, giving way to mainly dry conditions after sunrise. Yet another round of storms will try to work in during the afternoon as well. Otherwise, expect a warm, humid and breezy day tomorrow with highs near 90°. 

The heat and humidity will linger for Friday and Saturday, with highs in the 90s on both days. Isolated storms will be possible for both afternoons as well. A strong cold front will dive through the area on Sunday, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures and humidity for early next week.

Tracking the Tropics:

Tropical Storm Sean formed early this morning in the far eastern Atlantic. It is expected to track northward into the open Atlantic and poses no threat to SWFL or the United States.

Another disturbance is moving off of the African coast in the wake of Sean this morning. It has a low chance of developing over the next week as it heads generally westward. It if takes a name, it would be Tammy.
