You can already begin to feel the humidity creep back into Southwest Florida, and that trend will continue overnight as the remnants of the cool front that made us comfortable slide back to the north and team up with a tropical Low Pressure in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Between the two, you’ll need to have the umbrella hand over the next few days.

Rain will favor the afternoon and evening on Wednesday, but periods of rain will hang around overnight into Thursday, as low temperatures only drop into the upper 70s Thursday morning after the mid-70s tonight.

The heat and humidity, as well as the increased rain coverage, will hang around Friday and the weekend, but rain coverage will taper off each day. Heading into next week, another cool front will pass through the region, bringing more seasonal Fall conditions to Southwest Florida. The Climate Prediction Center is suggesting much of the eastern United States averages below-normal temperatures for the next 10 days (after we get through this weekend).

Tracking the tropics:

The Low Pressure in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico has a low chance of development over the next 7 days, mainly because of wind shear. It will still bring lots of rain to parts of the southern U.S.

Another area of disorganized Low Pressure in the far eastern Atlantic has a high chance of development over the next 7 days but will not affect Southwest Florida in any way.
