We’re waking up to some of the coolest weather of the season this morning across SWFL, and we’ll be even cooler by the time we wake up tomorrow.
Thanks to a cold front that moved through the area yesterday, a much cooler, less humid airmass is settling into SWFL today. Skies will stay cloudy, and with the chilly north winds, temperatures will hold in the 70s as we work through the afternoon. While a few sprinkles will be possible at times most spots will stay dry. Winds will stay strong out of the north and northwest all day long, on the order of 10-20 mph.
Skies will clear tonight, leaving us with a chilly night for this time of year. By sunrise Tuesday temperatures will range from the low 60s at the coast to the lower 50s north and inland. Despite plenty of sunshine throughout our Tuesday it will be another cool day, with highs only reaching the middle 70s.
Temperatures will bounce back a bit for the back half of the week, but will still be below average with highs in the mid and low 80s and low in the lower 60s. Another cold front will try to kick up a few downpours and storms Friday — otherwise expect dry weather!
Tracking the tropics:
After Sean dissipated Sunday there are no longer any active storms in the Atlantic. The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a wave in the east Atlantic that has a high chance to develop as it nears the Caribbean later this week. If it takes a name, it would be Tammy. It is not a threat to Florida.
Hurricane season continues through November.
