Sunday is starting off with some sunshine, but we will be tracking scattered storms across SWFL today. Starting around noon, we will see storms develop and become more widespread throughout the afternoon. Highs will head near 90 before the rain arrives.
Heavy rainfall could bring low visibility on the roads and some localized flooding to low-lying areas. Rain will start to die down after the sun sets. It will stay muggy overnight.
We will start to see the effects from the front on Monday, with much lower chances of rain in the week ahead.
Tracking the tropics
We are still tracking two systems in the tropics— Tropical Storm Philippe and Rina.
Philippe has the chance to become a hurricane over the next few days as it turns towards the north. It is not a threat to the United States, and no watches or warnings have been issued.
Just to the northeast of Philippe, Tropical Storm Rina is still holding on for now. It is forecast to continue to weaken and lose its tropical storm status by tonight. It will be a fish storm as it will not affect any land. Fortunately, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) is not tracking any areas for potential development over the next 7 days.
