After a nice dry stretch of weather over the holiday weekend — we get back to our more typical summer-time rainy season weather today.
We’ll start our Tuesday with a dry and sunny morning. Temperatures will settle into the middle and lower 70s at sunrise, jumping to high in the lower 90s by the afternoon. With higher humidity, ‘feels like’ numbers will reach the upper 90s during the heat of the day.
While we’ll be dry through the morning, storms will look to bubble up around 2 P.M. — continuing to roll through SWFL through the rest of the afternoon and into and through the evening. While severe storms aren’t expected, a few will be heavy, packing torrential rain and frequent lightning.
This will kick off a stormy stretch of weather for SWFL, as broad low pressure hanging over the region will keep widespread afternoon storms in the forecast for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Highs will hold in the lower 90s.
TRACKING THE TROPICS:
There are no named storms in the Atlantic at this time, and no development is expected through the next 7 days.
Hurricane Season officially begins on Thursday.
