It’s a nice start to our day, but we have thunderstorms on the way.

We are tracking a slow-moving frontal system that has stalled out just to our north across Central Florida. That front will act as a cool front bringing in drier air and cooler nights/mornings behind it.

As for now, we have a mix of sun and clouds through the first half of the day. Storms start around 1 PM, becoming more scattered as they move inland through the afternoon. There is the potential to see a couple of these thunderstorms move back towards the coast near dusk.

It will be muggy overnight with lows in the mid-upper 70s. The forecast will be similar on Sunday with rain chances near 60%. We will start to feel the effects from the front by Monday night.

Tracking the tropics

We are still tracking two systems in the tropics— Tropical Storm Philippe and Rina.

Philippe has the chance to become a hurricane over the next few days as it turns northwest. It is not a threat to the United States and no watches or warnings have been issued.

Just to the northeast of Philippe, Tropical Storm Rina is still holding on for now. It is expected to weaken throughout the weekend. It will be a fish storm as it will not affect any land.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is not tracking any areas for potential development over the next 7 days.
