Forecast: Turning much cooler today

A cold front moved through SWFL yesterday — and a much cooler airmass will begin to invade the area out of the north today.

The cooler air hasn’t arrived just yet though, and we’re actually starting off with a warmer than average morning. Temperatures settled into the upper 60s and low 70s at sunrise — but with a cool north breeze in place all day long, those numbers will struggle to climb. High temperatures will mainly hold in the upper 70s and low 80s. No rain is expected today, and you will notice a significant drop in humidity by the late afternoon and early evening.

As the cool dry air settles in, temperatures will fall sharply overnight. Despite cloudy skies, morning low temperatures will be some of the lowest of the season so far Tuesday morning, ranging from the low 60s at the coast to the middle and lower 50s north and inland.

Clouds will linger throughout our Tuesday, leaving us with a cool and breezy day all around. Afternoon highs will struggle to get out of the 60s. Despite the cloud coverage, no rain is expected.

Wednesday morning will be even chillier, with many spots dipping into the 40s by sunrise. A warming trend will take hold from there, as we’ll be back in the low 70s Wednesday afternoon, the upper 70s Thursday afternoon, and then back to the 80s for Friday and the weekend.

Tracking the tropics:

There are no areas of concern across the Atlantic basin, and no development is expected through the week. Hurricane season comes to a close in just four more days.
