FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — Fort Myers Beach residents woke up to water surrounding their neighborhood on Thursday.

Residents who live down Bahia Via said their entire street was flooded with water, some of it all the way up to their garages.

ABC7 Most Accurate Meteorologists said onshore winds helped push the water on land.

Residents are worried it will happen again.

Sylvia Stiger said in some spots the water was knee deep.

“What I saw at the high tide today reminded me a lot of September 28 last year,” said Stiger.

Leanne Theisen said Bahia Via has suffered from flooding issues for years, but she thinks it’s getting worse.

“I don’t know what to do, I’m at my wit’s end. It’s a lot of water and it sits all day and it’s salt and it stinks,” Theisen said.

We’ve reached out to the Town of Fort Myers Beach to ask if the water is coming up through the storm drains and what the town can do about this.
