FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fort Myers Police are searching for a man who was seen breaking into Joe’s Crab Shack and stealing shrimp on July 14.
At around 3:30 a.m., the man entered the business located at 2024 W First Street, according to the Fort Myers Police Department (FMPD). The man walked in through the restaurant’s back entrance and used red bolt cutters to break the lock to a freezer. He then helped himself to three cases of frozen shrimp.
Employees who work at Joe’s Crab Shack said he stole about $400 worth.
This isn’t the first time the restaurant has been broken into. Seven months ago, a different man broke in at the same location. Police said he stole alcohol and merchandise. He also pooped on the floor.
Anthony Graham and his son Jamaris were customers at Joe’s Crab Shack. They said the restaurant has great food.
“I feel sorry for the restaurant and I feel so sorry for the guy. I wish I could feed the guy and tell him don’t steal,” said Anthony.
“I’m surprised they broke into it. I guess they need better security but shoutout to him man, I can’t blame him — he was hungry!” said Jamaris.
The suspect is a black male, approximately 5’4-5’6 in height and around 30-40 years of age. The man was last seen walking through the Downtown Fort Myers area with a woman. He was wearing a dark hoodie, jean shorts and white sneakers.
