The Stern Grove Festival might end in August, but San Franciscans have another free concert series to look forward to that will run through October.

Due South, a series of free concerts held at the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater in San Francisco’s McLaren Park, is returning from July to October 2023 for its third season.

The event’s lineup was announced Thursday by the San Francisco Parks Alliance, and starts in late July with Oakland’s own indie garage punk band Shannon and the Clams. Opening for the band is local musician James Wavey.

Another indie rock band, Cherry Glazerr, is set to take the Due South stage in August, along with rock duo Momma and Oakland-based multi-genre artist King Isis.

September’s lineup plays homage to traditional and contemporary Latin music, with performances from Portland-based alternative group Y La Bamba, local solo artist Marinero and Loco Bloco, an Afro-Latino theater and dance performance group based in San Francisco.

Bay Area R&B percussion master Sheila E. is performing at Due South in October with her group, Sheila E. and the E-Train. Opening for them is Satya, a 22-year-old soul and R&B musician from Oakland.

Due South will be held at the Jerry Garcia Ampitheater on July 29, Aug. 26, Sept. 16 and Oct. 7 from 2 to 6 p.m. each day. The event is free, but seating may be reserved.
