Gonzaga junior Carson Looney watched his par putt fall into the cup on No. 18 at the University of Maryland Golf Course and knew, in the moment, his 5-under-par 66 would be the score to beat at the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championships.
Then came the stressful part: the wait. There were four groups still on the course Tuesday, and three golfers — including teammates Jack Hartman and Patrick Pritsios — were within one stroke of Looney.
