Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, who was recently picked to be Vice President Kamala Harris‘ running mate, is headed to Orange County.
Walz is scheduled to headline a fundraiser in Newport Beach on Tuesday, Aug. 13, according to an event invitation from Harris’ fundraising committee. Tickets range from $1,000 to attend to $100,000 to be named a chair. Some of the more expensive tickets include a photo opportunity.
Anne Earhart, Janet Keller and Bernie Schneider, Bette and Wylie Aitken and Teddy Ray are named as the fundraiser’s hosts.
Walz’s trip will happen exactly a week after Harris picked him to join her at the top of the Democratic presidential ticket. The progressive congressman-turned-governor is also a veteran and former coach and educator.
On Sunday, Harris and Walz are expected in San Francisco, where Harris served as district attorney earlier in her career, for a fundraiser at the luxury Fairmont Hotel. Tickets for that event range from $3,300 to $50,000, according to the invitation.
It’s unclear where exactly the Newport Beach event with Walz will be held. The invite says an address will be given upon RSVP.
President Joe Biden had been scheduled to attend a Laguna Beach fundraiser on July 26, but the president decided to forgo his re-election bid just days prior, thus leaving the event canceled.
