“For every Halsey pop song, there’s a Halsey rock song to match,” the star said onstage in Budapest

Halsey is giving fans a taste of the new music on her upcoming album. During a performance at Budapest’s Sziget Festival Wednesday, the “Lucky” singer shared a snippet of a new, darker, rockier song on the way.

“Let’s see what you think of this one!” Halsey said before walking offstage and letting the track play. The song seems to feature some heavy electric guitars and an intense drum solo that leans into the rock side she introduced on her last album, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power.

“For every Halsey pop song, there’s a Halsey rock song to match,” she later said, according to Dork Magazine, which attended and reviewed the show. “I like to do both, so I feel like I shouldn’t have to choose.”

The new music snippet, which has a punkier twist than the music on her last LP, comes several weeks after Halsey released the Britney Spears-sampling single “Lucky.” She has yet to set an official release date for her new album, though it’s expected to arrive this year.

After releasing “Lucky,” the singer shared on Tumblr that she regretted coming back to music after seeing the hateful reaction from many fans.

“My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet,” Halsey wrote at the time. “Not speaking for all of you, of course. But it used to be just a minority that were awful to me and now it seems like a majority have only stuck around to chime in occasionally with their opinion of how much they hate me or how awful I am.”

Halsey marked her return by dropping “The End” in early June. The song detailed her experience being diagnosed with Lupus SLE and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder and was aimed to be a letter to her fans.
