A wild paparazzi car chase of Britain’s Prince Harry, his wife Meghan Markle and his mother-in-law through the heart of Manhattan narrowly avoided ending in a multi-vehicle wreck, the royals said Wednesday.

Harry, Meghan and her mother Doria Ragland climbed into a waiting SUV following the Ms. Foundation for Women gala at the Ziegfeld Ballroom on W. 54th St. before they were targeted by multiple photographers in the crazed Tuesday night chase, the couple said.

“This relentless pursuit, lasting over two hours, resulted in multiple near-collisions involving other drivers on the road, pedestrians and two NYPD officers,” a spokesman for Prince Harry said Wednesday about the chase that began around 10 p.m.

A spokesman for the royals described the photographers as “highly aggressive paparazzi” in this latest clash in an ongoing battle between Harry and the media — though it’s mostly unfolded on the other side of the Atlantic, where the public is much more royal-obsessed.

The NYPD said that no one was injured, but Mayor Adams slammed the paparazzi’s behavior as “reckless and irresponsible” before expressing skepticism about the reported duration of the chase.

“I would find it hard to believe that there was a two-hour high-speed chase,” Adams said Wednesday. “That would be hard to believe. But we will find out the exact duration.”

Adams later said the royals were driving around for about 45 minutes before going to an NYPD precinct, adding there was then “a pause until it was resolved.”

The mayor added the paparazzi need to know “public safety must always be at the forefront” while on the job.

Adams said he’d heard two police officers were injured in the mad scramble. But there were no reported collisions, summonses, injuries or arrests related to the incident, according to NYPD spokesman Julian Phillips.

“I don’t think there’s many of us who don’t recall how his mom died,” said Adams. “And it would be horrific to lose an innocent bystander during a chase like this. I thought that was a bit reckless and irresponsible.”

Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, was killed in a motor vehicle crash in 1997 after her limousine was chased by paparazzi in Paris. The prince has long blamed his mother’s death on relentless paparazzi intrusion.

On Tuesday night, the prince’s SUV traveled east to the 19th Precinct stationhouse on E. 67th St. to shake the chase cars, where the trio and a security guard jumped into a cab.

But the ensuing trip was short-lived: They only circled the block before the driver dropped off his high-profile riders outside the stationhouse again.

“They were nervous,” Manhattan cabbie Sukhcharn Singh said of his high-profile fares. “They were being chased the entire day. They were just about to tell me the location of where they wanted me to go but then all these paparazzi came out of nowhere — so they told me to drive!”

Members of the NYPD’s Intelligence Bureau were assisting Prince Harry’s security team when the chase began, the department said.

“There were numerous photographers that made their transport challenging,” said NYPD spokesman Phillips, adding that the duke and duchess of Sussex arrived safely at their destination.

Video on Twitter showed the royals leaving the event hand-in-hand amid flashes from multiple cameras before climbing into a waiting black SUV, with the couple eventually abandoning the vehicle for the yellow city cab.

Reuters reported some of the photos posted on social media involved decoy cars meant to steer photographers elsewhere as the couple left.

Vehicles carrying the shutterbugs were seen jumping onto sidewalks and running red lights, according to TMZ.

The prince currently has three ongoing lawsuits against British newspapers for hacking into his phone, including one case in which he’s expected to testify next month.

The Ms. Foundation was honoring Meghan with its “Women of Vision” award prior to the bizarre tailing incident. During her acceptance speech, she encouraged women to continue to fight for equity.

“It’s never too late to start,” Meghan said. “You can be the visionary of your own life. … There is still so much work to be done.”

Harry and Meghan stepped down from their royal roles in 2020 and moved to the United States partly because of what they described as intense media harassment.

The royal couple reside in California with their two young children and were staying in New York at private residence, their spokesman said. They instead went to another location for the safety of their host, according to the spokesman.

Two days ago, a man was taken into custody by the famous couple’s security team near their property’s entrance on Monday around 2:30 a.m.

Kevin Garcia Valdovinos, 29, was detained at the massive home in Montecito and taken into custody, according to a spokesman for the Santa Barbara County sheriff’s office.

He was later booked on misdemeanor stalking charges and has since been released on $2,500 bail.
