A man and woman were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide at a Santee senior living facility on Tuesday, the second such incident to occur at the location this year.
The pair was found dead around 11:05 a.m. in a unit at the Lantern Crest Senior Living facility on Lantern Crest Way just east of state Route 67, said homicide Lt. Michael Krugh. Arriving deputies determined the two had suffered apparent head trauma.
Officials at the facility did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
The names of the man and woman will not be released until their families have been notified. Their ages also weren’t released, but Krugh described the pair as elderly.
Investigators are working to determine what led to the two deaths, Krugh said, adding that there were no outstanding suspects. The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the causes of death.
In a similar incident on May 26, 82-year-old David Soulner shot and killed his 79-year-old wife Claire Soulner at the same senior living facility, investigators said at the time.
On the day of the shooting, deputies arrived at the Lantern Crest complex and determined the two had died after apparent “head trauma,” Krugh said in May.
Soulner was the only suspect in the deaths.
