WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — With the holiday season coming up, one athlete at High Point University is starting a tradition that he hopes will continue long after he graduates.
What You Need To Know
- Ryan Marengo is on the men’s lacrosse team at High Point University
- Marengo and his team made breakfast and brought over 100 gifts to the Ronald McDonald House
- The breakfast was made for the families and siblings that stay in the Ronald McDonald House
Freshman student-athlete Ryan Marengo was heavily involved with the Ronald McDonald House when he was in middle school and later joined the teen advisory council in high school.
When Marengo was younger, he volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House in Camden, New Jersey.
“My aunt kind of got me involved with making breakfast and my family would go over and help her and my cousins,” Marengo said. “That was a great experience. It was like some of the first times we got to do a lot of like charity experiences in middle school.”
He wanted to continue this tradition with his teammates.
The team volunteered to make eggs, bacon, pancakes and other items for the house.
They didn’t come empty-handed either, toting dozens of toys for those who need cheering up during the holiday season.
Marengo said he was happy that the entire team could get involved.
