RALEIGH, N.C. — In the race for North Carolina lieutenant governor, Rachel Hunt is projected to win the Democratic nomination, according to The Associated Press.
The Democratic primary for lieutenant governor of North Carolina on Super Tuesday featured candidates Hunt, Ben Clark and Mark H. Robinson.
Candidates from the crowded field of Republicans included Deanna Ballard, Jeffrey Elmore, Sam Page and Peter Boykin.
The primary election for the Libertarian Party was canceled. Dee Watson successfully progressed from the Libertarian primary as a lieutenant governor candidate.
In North Carolina, lieutenant governor and governor are elected separately. It’s an open race with current Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson running for the GOP nomination for governor.
The General Election is set for Nov. 5, when North Carolina voters will cast ballots for president, governor, the council of state, Congress, the entire General Assembly and dozens of local seats.
