On John Legend’s next album, we might just hear a song all about Chrissy Teigen’s lips — and he really should give Ilia Beauty, the brand Mandy Moore and Paulina Porizkova use, a shoutout. 

The Cravings cookbook author was on a “closed set” recently, and though her Instagram caption says differently, she uploaded some of the very best kinds of photos: BTS snapshots of her getting all glammed up. 

In the last slide of Teigen’s post, someone, somewhere off-camera, was seen delicately defining the star’s lips with the Ilia Beauty Sketch Hydrating Crayon, which, according to the brand, is sold every 20 seconds.

The $26 Lip Sketch Hydrating Crayon is a bit of an enigma: The brand says it has “the creamy comfort of a lipstick” and “the precision of a lip liner,” both of which I’ve found to be true since it sent two over for me to try. 

The product glides on silky whether I’m using it to line my lips or for all-over color, but since it’s a bit thicker in size, I don’t need to be so exact with where I place it. The color also shows up with one little swipe and is easy to blot when I overline a little too much. It feels like art class, only I’m allowed to color inside and outside the lines. 

The formula is also hydrating — it’s packed with ingredients like sea succulent, hyaluronic acid, seaweed extract, and rosehip oil. It also doesn’t feel gritty or sticky when I smack or rub my lips together. The brand advertises its staying power as 12 hours, with no bleeding to boot. 

Teigen had on the shade Pink Door (which you can also see on me below), but there are 12 colors to choose from if light pink isn’t your go-to. Banquette is another favorite of mine, and it’s finally back in stock with Genre, Night Bloom, and Gala, three other popular shades, according to the brand.

Even though the product was only released this past March, it’s already drawing in fans. “I have naturally dry lips, so even the thought of using lip pencils just to line my lips makes me cringe,” one customer started. “But this lip liner/crayon is super creamy, hydrating, and not at all drying.”
