An Illinois couple has died after a motorcycle crash on a local interstate, leaving their two daughters behind.
Cole and Morgan Whitford were riding a motorcycle south on Highway 111 around 10:50 p.m. local time on Saturday, Aug. 3, when the bike collided with the front end of a van that was attempting a left turn, according to NBC affiliate KSDK and FOX affiliate KTVI.
The couple later died at a local hospital, per the reports. They were both 29.
Cole and Morgan had been married since Oct. 17, 2020, according to their respective obituaries. They shared two young daughters together, Remington and Emersyn.
More than $44,000 has been raised through a GoFundMe campaign for funeral and other expenses.
“They would do anything for each other,” said Sharon Koch, Morgan’s aunt, per KTVI. “But the fact that they’re together, somehow, resembles their love for each other.”

Cole was born in Granite City, where the fatal crash occurred, while Morgan was born in Wood River, according to their obituaries.
He was a pipefitter at U.S. Steel in Granite City, and she worked in the emergency department at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.
Additionally, Cole was a two-time American wrestler who “received many medals and trophies” throughout his years in the sport. The “devoted and loving husband and dad” also enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as spending time with his four dogs.

“He had the biggest heart, very loyal, a protector and big hugger,” the obituary said.
Morgan “was a proud and loving mom” who “loved being with family and friends,” according to her obituary.
A funeral for the couple will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, per the obituaries. The two will be laid to rest at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.
Koch told KTVI that loved ones plan to “share stories” about Cole and Morgan with their daughters, “and we’ll explain to them who they are.”
She added, “We will also instill those same qualities and their character in them.”
