‘Tis the season, folks: ugly holiday sweater season. For In-N-Out stans, that means the purchase of the fast food company’s 2023 ugly sweater. Thankfully, it’s not as ugly as last year’s drop.

In 2022, the company released an ugly sweater inspired by one of its most popular items — animal-style fries. The black sweatshirt (yes, it doesn’t even appear to have been an actual sweater) had some sort of green, leafy “tree” in the middle, which honestly could have been either a terribly designed Christmas tree or a head of lettuce. French fry caricatures popped out of the “tree” holding different In-N-Out mementos, such as the iconic twin palm trees that are part of its logo and the cascabella chile peppers it famously offers up on the side.

The “tree” was smattered with lines of In-N-Out’s special sauce that look like worms or just some pinkish goop. Truly hideous, and not in the way ugly sweaters are supposed to be.

This year’s sweater (yes, it appears to be an actual sweater this time) is a nod to the past and has a nostalgic 1950s aesthetic. White and trimmed with red, the two colors most associated with In-N-Out, it bears a a giant double-double cheeseburger in the center. Above the burger are the words “Bite Me,” which is a reference to an In-N-Out bumper sticker founder Harry Snyder created in the 1970s. The company recommends people purchase the sweater before Dec. 13 in order for it to arrive by Christmas. The sweaters cost nearly $70.
