First time participants in Sizzle Dining, Café Normandie is offering both $29 lunch and $39 dinner menus to support Blessings in a Backpack charity ($1 of every meal directly donated to help feed food insecure children). It’s also an opportunity to savor French cuisine and sample a few classics.
According to Chef Anthony, what meatloaf is to Americans, pâté de campagne — a sublime mixture of pork and bacon — is to the French. Seriously, Julia Child wasn’t kidding when she wrote, in Mastering the Art of French Cooking, that “the memory of a good French pâté can haunt you for years.”
You won’t forget Grandma Paté & Cornichons — a homemade country pork paté accompanied by French gherkins and mustard alongside a petite green salad — one of Café Normandie’s Sizzle Dining six appetizer selections.
A French entree choice is Magret De Canard & Berry Sauce a grilled duck breast served with au gratin potatoes and sauteed vegetables. Magret is a special part of a juicy duck’s breast that has been fattened and cooks up much like a steak. It’s often referred to as “duck steak.”
