Thirty consecutive championships ingrain lofty expectations into the fabric of a program. A result of three decades of dominance, Jackson-Reed’s baseball team is accustomed to having a target on its back against D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association competition.
In Wednesday’s DCIAA championship game, the Tigers left zero doubt as to whether their streak would continue. They laid it on School Without Walls early at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in Southeast Washington, capturing their 31st straight title with a 13-0 drubbing of the Penguins. The game ended after the top of the fifth inning when the mercy rule took effect.
