Lake Zurich, Libertyville and Stevenson make leaps as Mundelein, Highland Park and Vernon Hills enter the rankings.

With records through Wednesday and previous rankings in parentheses.

1. Antioch 2-0 (1)

Is Martin Cohen in a video game? He has rushed for 523 yards and nine TDs on 19 carries.

2. Carmel 2-0 (2)

Both Donovan Dey (52-yard TD run) and Torey French (54-yard kickoff return) broke loose in the Corsairs’ win at Lake Forest.

3. Lake Zurich 2-0 (6)

Lincoln Adams made 14 tackles — and ran for a TD — as the Bears held Glenbrook South to 77 rushing yards in their win.

4. Libertyville 2-0 (7)

The Wildcats will put their strong start to the test in their North Suburban Conference opener at Warren.

5. Deerfield 2-0 (5)

Quinn Schimanski rushed for 219 yards, including a 59-yard TD, on 29 carries in a win at rival Highland Park.

6. Stevenson 2-0 (10)

Ethan Aghakhan, who has three sacks, played 114 snaps in the Patriots’ win at Taft, playing left guard and defensive end.

7. Mundelein 2-0 (NR)

Trey Thompson’s pick-six against Grayslake North is among the Mustangs’ seven defensive takeaways in their first 2-0 start since 2015.

8. Lake Forest 1-1 (9)

Salt on the wounds from the Scouts’ hard-fought loss to Carmel, Nate Williams will miss several weeks with a knee injury.

9. Highland Park 1-1 (NR)

The Giants went toe to toe with Deerfield in a 21-16 loss after a 37-0 win against Leyden in their season opener.

10. Vernon Hills 1-1 (NR)

Shep Ratnow’s production against Lakes is hard to match: He scored TDs on both of his catches, and his 68-yard pick-six was the game-winner.

Senior wide receiver Armand Burris made six catches for 198 yards and four TDs in Stevenson’s 52-24 road win against Taft.

Junior cornerback Vinny Hurst made two interceptions in Grant’s 21-14 road win against Glenbrook North. His second came at the Bulldogs’ 2-yard line with 0:07 left in the game.
